Doneraile trainer John Joe Walsh landed a 20-1 surprise victory with Wate And Sea in the Connacht Rugby Handicap Hurdle at Ballinrobe this evening.

Ridden by fellow Corkman Adrian Heskin, Wate And Sea just held on from the fast-finishing Swantykay by a half a length.

The Connacht rugby players were in attendance at Ballinrobe, and as well as showing off their rugby skills in the parade ring after the race, they presented the prize to a jubilant Walsh.

That was far from the end of Cork success at the meeting because later on the card Paul Townend steered Grand Partner to a 2-1 success in the Monroes Live Hurdle for trainer Tom Mullins.Contact Page
